Most environmental permits require periodic sampling and analysis of effluent, emissions, waste or groundwater. If the analytical data is presented to regulatory agencies without critical review and an explanation of anomalous data, it can cause problems which may be lengthy and expensive to resolve. Planning and good communications prior to sampling and during data review can forestall problems.
