Air emissions estimating is done in instances where continuous monitoring of emissions is not feasible. Annual emissions estimates can be done by sampling for a shorter period of time, then relating the emissions to the chemical usage during the sampled time and extrapolating over a longer chemical use period. For those chemicals that cannot be readily measured, emissions can be estimated by correlating vapor pressure data to those chemicals that have been measured and are used in a similar manner. Alternatively, emissions could be estimated utilizing the EPA published AP-42 factors, if applicable. Fugitive emissions can be estimated by using either AP-42 factors or average SOCMI factors.
