A recent phosphine gas leak was detected at Motorola Electronics Malaysia by a Telos 650 gas analyzer detector. A snoop test confirmed the leak was between the neck of the phosphine gas bottle and the release valve. A stainless steel gas scrubber was designed to neutralize the toxic phosphine gas via chemical reaction with 5% potassium permangate before exhausting safely into the atmosphere. The operation to neutralize the phosphine was completed successfully without any loss of life and/or property.
