Building & Fire Code Review

Abstract:
This webinar will provide a Building & Fire Code Review with emphasis on the significance changes adopted in the 2016 code cycle, how these changes are currently being administered, and amendments proposed for the interim rulemaking cycle effective July 1, 2018. The presentation will focus on the Office of State Fire Marshal (OSFM) rationale for these actions and their intent to establish minimum requirements for the prevention of fire and for the protection of life and property against fire.

Presenter:
Mr. Tarter has over twenty years of Chemical, Engineering and related Environmental and Hazardous Materials Consulting experience, which includes an extensive regulatory background and design experience focusing on laboratory design, process development, facilities engineering, hazardous materials and risk management. Mr. Tarter holds patents for various solvent delivery and hazardous vapor control technologies. He has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and is a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager with expertise in Laboratory design, Bio-Tech, Semiconductor, PV solar manufacturing and various GreenTech industries.

Mr. Tarter is a former Hazardous Materials Plan’s Examiner and Inspector for the San Jose Fire Department and continues to provide specialized code consulting services to various regulatory agencies, designers and industry. He has spearheaded several hazardous material subcommittees for the Santa Clara County Fire Chief’s Association and has actively participated on various code rewrite committees including the California State Fire Marshal’s ad-hoc committee for the continuing development of the L-Occupancy for Research and Development Laboratories and local agency adoptions pertaining to Lithium-Ion Batteries & Advanced Energy Power Storage Systems, and Cannabis Plant Extraction & CO2 Enriched Grow Facilities.
