Challenges with Lithium Ion Batteries in the Built Environment
Nov 8, 2023, with Alex Schraiber: This presentation will give an overview of how lithium ion battery hazards develop from small events into large incidents that can create life safety and property safety risks. Examples of different hazard scenarios demonstrated by field incidents (including Surprise, Arizona) will be shared. Additionally, results will be shared from recent testing performed by UL Solutions in collaboration with the International Association of Fire Fighters and the Department of Energy. This research project focuses on developed fire service considerations for response to incidents involving lithium ion batteries.
