Current Topics in Industrial Hygiene

ROHM, TIMOTHY
(Industrial Hygiene Services, San Jose, CA)

Safety professionals and industrial hygienists working in the semiconductor industry have been at the forefront of developments in their professions. Currently, the focus has shifted from subjects such as the health effects of glycol ethers and electromagnetic fields to those of new process gases and materials used in semiconductor manufacturing. In addition, the availability of new instruments that may replace traditional methods of measuring worker exposure to airborne contaminants and physical agents have made the task of the professional more complicated. These new developments that impact professionals in the semiconductor industry will be discussed together with general developments in industrial hygiene such as molds and indoor air quality.
