Arc Flash Electrical Safety

Meyers, Steve
(EORM, Newport Beach, CA)

This timely course is based on current OSHA regulations and the 2004 NFPA 70E: Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace. The PDC will provide an opportunity for attendees to learn how current NFPA 70E standards apply to your facility, including new requirements for arc flash analysis and energized electrical work permits. Topics include understanding electrical hazards, electrical safety-related work practices, establishing an electrically-safe work condition, and requirements for protective boundaries during work near live parts. Personal protective equipment requirements for various tasks and an introduction to calculating arc flash protective boundaries will also be discussed. The PDC is designed for tool maintenance and repair technicians or anyone responsible for establishing an electrical safety program for such employees.
