This session will provide a comprehensive briefing of hydrogen fluoride (HF), including its chemical properties, commercial and industrial relevance, and pathophysiology. The presentation will emphasize exposure effects, emergency and clinical treatment approaches and review selected exposure cases.

Benjamin Hall
Principal Engineer
Corning Incorporated

Ben is the Principal Engineer at Corning Incorporated Science & Technology Operations Group at Sullivan Park in Corning, NY. He is also Captain of the S&T HazMat Emergency Response Team and an EMT-B with the medical response team.
Over his 27-year career with Corning, Ben has served in engineering, research, and project management roles spanning compound semiconductors (III-Vs), electro-optic research and development engineering, and research project management for a large-scale pilot product scale-up. His more recent work focuses on process hazard mitigation in both manufacturing and R&D environments and mentoring the next generation of Corning researchers.
Beyond his Corning responsibilities, Ben serves as Director of the Chemical Hazard Information Team for Environmental Emergency Services, an NGO that provides in-depth chemical emergency technical support for the tri-county area of Steuben, Chemung, and Schuyler counties. He also serves as a Firefighter/EMT with his hometown volunteer fire department.
Ben is an advisory member of Corning’s Process Hazard Review Board and Hydrofluoric Acid User Group safety program. He is considered a subject matter expert on HF acid processing, chemical safety, and emergency response.
