This workshop will discuss engineering, detection, isolation and emergency control approaches to ensure the safe handling of specialty gases and chemicals with an emphasis on alternate approaches to meet the intent of the Fire Code when the code prescribed methods may not be feasible. The presenters will discuss these approaches from both an industry and regulatory perspective. The workshop will be structured with a mix of presentation, case studies and open discussion. It is recommended that attendees familiarize themselves with the fundamental code requirements related to specialty gas/chemical installations in facilities (e.g. UFC, UBC, TGO) in advance of the workshop.
