The Semiconductor Industry Association Worker Health Project Chuck Fraust, PhD, PE, CIH Director, EHS Semiconductor Industry Association 181 Metro Drive, Ste. 450 San Jose, CA 95110 Abstract The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) has long been a supporter of programs that evaluate and are responsive to potential worker health risks. Examples of such programs are the Occupational Health System that evaluates injury and illness data for SIA member companies; the U.C. Davis study that was conducted for the SIA to evaluate potential reproductive risks among women working in cleanrooms; and the current effort to evaluate cancer risk in the industry. This presentation will explore the rationale for conducting the studies that have been underway over the last four years; review the findings of the parts that have been concluded, provide an overview of the work currently underway; and, to the extent possible, offer some insight into potential next steps.
