Bernie Frist – SESHA Fellow

Bernie began his career in the semiconductor industry upon graduation from the RETS Technical Institute in Baltimore, MD and joining Westinghouse Corporation’s Advanced Technical Laboratories in Linthicum, MD. Bernie spent his first two years in the industry providing equipment engineering support to 150mm Si and GaAs wafer fabs and a two-inch substrate microwave applications lab.

He then joined National Semiconductor on assignment to the DoD’s Special Processing Laboratory in Fort Meade, MD where he mentored in EHS under SESHA Lifetime Achievement Award Winner, Paul M. Yakubek, as National’s Site EHS Manager.

He later joined Environmental and Occupational Risk Management (EORM) as a Senior Safety Engineer and Project Manager on assignment to Intel Corporation supporting the factory ramps of Fab 11 in Rio Ranch, NM and Fab 12 in Chandler, AZ. During Bernie’s career with EORM he held key positions including Arizona Regional Manager, Regional Operations Director, Hazard Analysis Business Practice Leader, Strategic Business Development Director, and Managing Principal.

In 2006, he joined ARCADIS, an international company providing consultancy, engineering and management services in infrastructure, environment and facilities, and is now a Principal in the Global Management and Advisory Services practice.

Bernie has been a long standing member of SESHA. He has presented, moderated and chaired the Annual Symposium; served as Arizona Chapter President; served two consecutive terms on the SESHA Board of Directors; and is past-President of the Association (2005-2006). He has received Meritorious Services Awards, the SESHA Genesis Award, and was recognized with the SESHA President’s Award in 2007.

Bernie resides in Phoenix, AZ with his son Parker and enjoys golf, travel, and SCUBA diving.
