Lew Scarpace – SESHA Fellow
Lew attended the University of California at Berkeley and earned both undergraduate and graduate degrees in Science. His Masters Degree was from the School of Public Health in Environmental Health Science which launched a career of more than thirty-two years of working in Safety, Health, Environment, and Facilities. He has worked twenty-nine years in the semiconductor industry and the past 18+ years at Intel Corporation. He is a certified industrial hygienist from the American Board of Industrial Hygiene.
His hometown is San Mateo, California and currently lives nearby in Belmont. His career has also taken him and his family to the South, the East Coast, and the Southwest regions of the United States. He is married to Michele for thirty-two wonderful years, and they have two children, Elisabeth and Daniel.
Lew is currently the Directory and General Manager of Corporate Environmental, Health, and Safety for Intel Corporation. He is responsible for directing a program that encompasses more than 100 sites around the world, servicing more than 90,000 employees, 80,000 contingent workers, twelve wafer factories, seven assembly plants, hundreds of labs, data centers, research and design centers, and office facilities. Much of his career was spent in his first passion as industrial hygienist, safety engineer, environmental engineer, and many management roles in EHS. He is proud of being an author of several EHS papers and co-author of several books in Industrial Hygiene and Safety earlier in his career.
Lew has also held operational jobs at Intel including General Manager of the Corporate Services America 2019s region, America 2019s Facilities and Services Team, and Corporate Services Site Manager in Hudson, MA.
In addition, Lew also held positions at Intel as Santa Clara EHS Manager, Intel Safety Director. In his EHS roles, he is most proud to in being able to influence and help develop the careers of many professionals in EHS.
